Quick Grounding
Even if you only have a short time in between things, you can shift into a more centered state of being.
Expand your attention from the immediate task to how you are inhabiting your self in your environment.
Notice the earth below you and your weight touching whatever you are standing or sitting on right now.
Notice the sky above you, and how much air or space is above your head in your room at this moment.
Notice that you are a round-edged three-dimensional being as you notice 360 degrees of your environment.
As you notice these spatial truths, notice that you are not at immediate risk. If you are reading this, you are most likely not at immediate risk. If you do not feel safe where you are this moment, can you imagine what it is like to feel safe?
Can you let some softness into your face, breath and muscle tone? Not soggy soft but supple soft.
Notice one or two things in your environment that are pleasant, or beautiful to look at.
The Quick Grounding:
Earth, Sky, Environment. No immediate risk. Softness. Notice something pleasant.
Even though our nervous systems are designed to look for what’s wrong, we can choose to notice what is okay right now. An antidote for a terribly disturbing world can be small moments that are sensorily aware, easy or joyful.
